NASSAU COUNTY, NY — On Small Business Saturday, Nov. 30, residents can participate in Nassau County's Shop Small Scavenger Hunt, according to Nassau County Executive Laura Curran.

Participants must complete four of the eight following tasks:

  • Purchase a beverage or snack from a local coffee/bagel shop or deli, and take a selfie with it.
  • Eat at a local restaurant, and take a photo with your meal.
  • Make a purchase at a clothing boutique or gift shop, and take a photo with it in front of the store.
  • Get a sweet treat from a local bakery or candy store, and take a selfie with it.
  • Take a selfie while getting your hair cut at a local barber shop or while getting your nails done at a local salon.
  • Buy flowers from a local florist and take a photo with them in front of the shop.
  • Make a purchase at a local hardware store or variety store, and take a photo with your purchase in front of the store.
  • Get your car washed or serviced at a local car wash or mechanic and take a picture with your car at the shop.

It's important to note all purchases must be made on Small Business Saturday and within the same community. For example, if you eat at a diner in Farmingdale, you must also buy a snack from a Farmingdale deli, etc. All purchases must be made at small businesses; no national franchises will be accepted.
