Striking 101 Holds Grand Opening In Farmingdale

The MMA and fitness-class gym opened this weekend.

FARMINGDALE, NY — Striking 101 formally joined the Farmingdale community on Saturday with a ribbon cutting ceremony, according to the Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce.

The new location offers mixed martial arts and fitness classes for men, women and children of all ages and experience levels. Offered arts include boxing, Dutch kickboxing, Muay Thai, submission grappling, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, MMA, strength training and conditioning.

If you're interested in becoming a professional fighter, Striking 101 has a fighters program. However, those wanting to be part of the gym's fight team must be diligent with their training, according to the gym's website. The fight team training is by invitation only. The gym was officially established back in 2012 at its Richmond Hill, Queens location.

According to the website, Striking 101 can be "A gym, you work out in. An academy, you learn. A dojo, you find your way. Striking 101 can be one or all three for you. The choice is yours. Osu."

Striking 101 is located at 248 Main St. According to Google, it's open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to noon on weekends.
