Elected officials are busy this holiday season and with their recent sweep of the Oyster Bay Town Board elections in November, the GOP has much to celebrate.

It's worth repeating the town's sanitation and S.O.R.T. recycling schedules for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

There is no sanitation recycling collection on both Monday, Dec. 26 and Jan. 2. Residents who normally receive sanitation or recycling collection on those two Mondays will have pickup on Tuesdays, Dec. 27 and Jan. 3.

Tuesday customers will receive collection on Wednesday, Dec. 28 and Jan. 4.

All town offices will be closed on those days, but parks and ice rinks will be open, with extended hours at all rinks.

Town offices will close after a half day on the afternoons of Fridays, Dec. 23 and Dec. 30, in observance of Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

There will be normal town sanitation and S.O.R.T. recycling collections on those Fridays.

2012 Planning Board Meetings

The Town's has issued its 2012 meeting schedule. The meeting, which fall on Wednesdays, are:

  • January 25 
  • March 21
  • May 16
  • July 25
  • September 19
  • November 14

All meetings are held in the Town's Hearing Room in Oyster Bay at 7 p.m.. The 7-member commission recommends preservation sites and structures within the Town which have historical, architectural or antiquarian significance. There are  37 buildings, one railroad turntable and one cemetery with Town landmark status. For more iformation, contact the Department of Planning & Development at 624-6200.
