The Turning Point grabbed headlines on Thanksgiving Eve in 2020 when it hosted a free buffet for hungry families during the height of the coronavirus pandemic.
"We at the Turning Point ... know that many people out in our community are suffering, and as we all know, this holiday season is like no other in our lifetimes," Barrell previously told Patch when he hosted the buffet. "We felt that we needed to do whatever we can to help those in need. At The Turning Point, we believe in reaching down to help pull someone up and these times, more than ever, we need to pull together ... to save each other ... to be there for each other. The light at The Turning Point is always on for those in need."
