FARMINGDALE, NY — There are several events coming to Farmingdale Village in November and December.

The village was also nominated for the Best Downtown on Long Island for the 2023 Bethpage Best of Long Island Awards. Farmingdale won from 2015 to 2018 and from 2020 through 2022.

Farmers Market by Schneider's Farm

The farmers markets will run every Sunday through Nov. 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at 361 Main Street, weather permitting.

Veterans Day Ceremony -

  • When: Friday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m.
  • Where: Farmingdale Village Green
  • What: Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 516 along with VFW Auxiliary Post 516 and American Legion Post 449 invite all members of the community for a patriotic ceremony to thank and honor our military veterans, those who served in the United States Armed Forces.

Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce Holiday Parade

  • When: Noon, Saturday Nov. 19
  • Where: The parade steps off at Northside School and heads down Main Street.
  • What: The parade will feature the Farmingdale School Marching Band, Dalerettes Kickline and Hardscrabble Girl Scouts in holiday costume. Come see the parade along Main Street and visit Santa at the Village Green. Santa will be handing out candy canes and saying hello. This is an opportunity to take your holiday photo with Santa, so bring your camera.

Farmingdale Village Tree Lighting

  • When: 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29 (Rain date Nov. 30)
  • Where: The Gazebo on the Village Green at 361 Main St.
  • What: The Norway Spruce tree will be lit up with LED lights. Enjoy music by the South Shore Brass Ensemble, and the Albany Avenue Senior Chorus is singing holiday carols, sponsored by the Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce. Complimentary hot chocolate and cookies are sponsored by Farmingdale Village merchants.

Gerngras Park Tree Lighting

  • When: 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2
  • Where: Staples and Hudson streets

Youth Open Mic Night

  • When: 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9
  • Where: Village Hall
  • What: Acts, individuals, and groups of all ages can register in advance via email: openmicfarmingdale@gmail.com or sign-up at 7 p.m. at the event. Limited seating inside Village Hall.

9th Annual Long Island Gingerbread House Contest

  • When: 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10
  • Where: The Chocolate Duck, at 310 Main St.
  • What: Come see the amazing entries at the event and vote for the People's Choice award. Prizes will be awarded. This year's theme is Holiday Theme/Memories. There will be a collection for locals in need by Long Island Cares, so residents are encouraged to bring non-perishable food donations. The event is planned with the Farmingdale Village Cultural Arts Committee.
