VIDEO: Farmingdale Family Fights Blindness

The LaGattuta Family received life altering news four years ago about their daughter Jamie.

Retinitis Pigmentosa is an eye disease that most people have never heard of, but it is a disease that has the potential to cause complete blindness.

When Gen and Mike LaGattuta's daughter Jamie was diagnosed with RP at age 6, they came across the Foundation Fighting Blindness, a non-profit national eye research organization that raises money to find treatments and cures for eye diseases such as RP.

One of their major fundraisers is the Visionwalk, held each fall, which the LaGattuta's have participated in for the last four years. The money their team "Jamie's Dream" raises goes towards the foundation's research.
