Vietnam-Era Artillery Gun To Be Dedicated at Republic

"Long Tom" to be dedicated at noon-hour ceremony

A special dedication honoring those who served during the Vietnam era will take place today at the American Airpower Museum.

TODAY's 5:

1. A rare 155 mm “Long Tom” artillery piece that served at American fire bases throughout the Vietnam War is being dedicated at the at Republic Airport, Farmingdale, today at 11:30 a.m. We'll have a full report.

2. Weather conditions will delay owner of record attempt. Stuart Hayim is trying to set a record with his powerboat Recovery in a trip around Long Island. The event is delayed one day, until Wednesday,  because of weather conditions. The event, has been rescheduled for Wednesday. We'll keep you posted.

3. The waters may be a bit rough, the Long Island land forecast for today and tomorrow is spectacular, with seasonal daytime temperatures, low humidity and cool evenings.
