WEATHER UPDATE: 3 Straight Days of Wintry Precipitation Possible

Partly cloudy skies Friday night will usher in three straight days with a chance of wintry precipitation, according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS has revoked a hazardous weather outlook for the region as initial projections of more than 8 inches of snow have been cut all the way down to less than an inch for much of the island.

The bigger issue, especially from Sunday night into Monday night, will likely be ice. Some areas could see two to four-tenths of an inch of ice accumulation, the NWS says.

The full forecast:

• Tonight- Partly cloudy, with a low around 19. Wind chill values between 10 and 15. West wind around 7 mph.
• Saturday- A slight chance of light snow after 3pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 33. Wind chill values between 15 and 25. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
• Saturday Night- A slight chance of snow before 9pm, then a slight chance of snow, freezing rain, and sleet between 9pm and midnight, then a chance of rain and snow after midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 30. Southwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
• Sunday- A slight chance of rain and snow before 9am, then a slight chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 38. East wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
• Sunday Night- A chance of rain and snow before 9pm, then a chance of snow and freezing rain. Cloudy, with a low around 27. Northeast wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
• Monday- Snow and freezing rain, mainly after 9am. High near 33. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New ice accumulation of 0.1 to 0.3 of an inch possible. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
• Monday Night- A chance of snow and freezing rain before 3am. Cloudy, with a low around 24. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
• Tuesday- Partly sunny, with a high near 35.
