Woman Steals Pocketbook From Elderly Woman's Farmingdale Home: PD

She told the 87-year-old woman she was a health care network employee and pulled the phone away when she tried to call police, cops say.

FARMINGDALE, NY — A woman burglarized the Farmingdale home of an 87-year-old woman Saturday afternoon after posing as an employee at a health care network, the Nassau County Police Department said Sunday evening.

A woman, who the elderly woman didn't recognize, entered the Main Street apartment at 3:30 p.m. and told the homeowner, "I'm from Northwell" before she began cleaning the residence, police said. When the homeowner asked the woman to stop cleaning and leave the apartment, she refused and entered the woman's bedroom, police said. When the elderly woman tried calling 911, police said the burglar grabbed her wrists and pulled the phone away. The woman then left the home and ran off in an unknown direction, police said. The homeowner then realized her pocketbook was missing, police said.

The burglar was wearing neutral-colored clothes with a surgical mask and latex gloves, police said.
