Women’s Club of Farmingdale Welcomes New Members
The Women’s Club of Farmingdale (WCF) was delighted to welcome three new members,
Theresa Cutugno, Joanne Restivo and Agatha Vitale and the return of former
member Barbara Magnum. New members were asked to sign the latest membership book (former registers date back to 1913) and while holding lighted candles, they pledged commitment to the club’s mission statement- philanthropy, education and community improvement - in a statement
read by President Lynda Leone. Prior to this meeting, Judith Vazquez, Membership Chair, held a New Member Welcome Tea at her home to discuss the responsibilities of clubwomen, including financially and active volunteering. They were presented with a club handbook which, among
other things, contains the club’s by-laws and procedures, the history of the
founding of the club, names and addresses of members, standing and ad hoc
committees and more.

On April 1, the WCF held its April School Recess “Shut the Door on Hunger” food
collection with help from the Farmingdale Library’s CASE (Connection &
Social Empowerment) Program volunteers. Food donations were sorted on long tables and the volunteers walked around them filling bags with the requested items. The CASE program was started
by library director, Christa Lucarelli, to empower special needs adults to continue to have opportunities for social interaction and daily meaningful activities.
