• Smith Point Bridge Traffic Shift Starts Monday (southshorepress.com) — If you're driving to Fire Island via Smith Point Bridge, expect a new traffic pattern starting Monday, September 21, as all vehicles shift to the east side of William Floyd Parkway near the bridge. One lane will carry traffic in each direction while the west side closes for construction access, so officials urge drivers to watch digital signs, lane changes and construction vehicles.
