Brandeis Hebrew Academy Receives More Than $70,000 From 5K Fundraiser

More than 150 people from the community took part in the annual event on Sunday.

LAWRENCE, NY — The Brandeis Hebrew Academy held its 4th annual Russell Friedman 5K over the weekend.

The event, named in honor of former Brandeis parent and executive board member, invites members to run or walk the 5K course.

The Hebrew school raised nearly $75,000 as more than 150 people participated on Sunday. A brunch followed the race.

"This event brings together family, friends and community from both Brandeis and the community as a whole with athletes, children, and adults of all ages," Elana Lederman, Brandeis parent, PA President, Board Member & co-chair of the event, said of the 5K race.

This year’s fundraiser included dozens of silent auction prize items which ranged from luxury trips to signed memorabilia.
