The Healthiest Towns on Long Island

Long Island has many of the state’s healthiest residents, according to rankings released by Niche.com.

Nassau County towns populate much of the second half of the list of the top 100 Healthiest Places to Live in New York. Though Manhattan was the No. 1 healthiest place to live in New York, many of the top 50 places are located in Westchester County. No Suffolk County towns made the list.

The Healthiest Places to Live listing took into account many factors when trying to figure out which areas had the healthiest populace. Niche looked at data from the U.S. Census and the Centers for Disease Control. It took into account factors like level of inactivity, obesity rates, smoking and access to doctors and mental health professionals.
