Lawrence High School's Asian American Club Delivers Lunar Gram for Chinese New Year
LAWRENCE, NEW YORK (February 2022)—In honor of the Chinese Lunar New Year, Lawrence High School’s Asian Club is delivering Lunar Gram to staff and students. The Chinese Lunar New Year, commonly known as the Spring Festival, is an important holiday to East and Southeast Asian communities.
“I think it’s great that our students are delivering Lunar Gram to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year,” said Ms. Beth Confino, Asian American Club advisor. “Besides our students having a great time putting the Lunar Grams together and sharing the spirit of the Lunar New Year, this was an educational opportunity for our students to learn about the culture of our Asian neighbors, who are the fastest-growing ethnic group across our country.”
Students and staff were able to purchase a Lunar Gram in the school building’s main hall. The Lunar Grams contained a fortune keepsake and a Boba milk tea mochi treat. Boba milk tea, which is a popular dessert, consists of tea, milk, and tapioca.
