Man Charged with DWI After Striking Bicyclist
BREAKING: The cyclist had a fractured leg; there was also a 15-year-old boy in the car at the time of the incident.

A Bronx man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after he struck a bicyclist in North Woodmere on Sunday.
According to police, Fourth Precinct officers responded to an auto accident involving a bicyclist and an car on Park Lane and Cedarhurst Street in Woodmere at 7:08 p.m. Sunday. Justin Aaron Ramsnamy, 19, of Woodhull Avenue, Bronx was driving a 2008 BMW when he allegedly struck a 55-year-old male bicyclist. The bicyclist was airlifted to a local hospital for treatment of a fractured leg and upper arm injuries. A 15-year-old male passenger in the car was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injures.
Officers said they observed Ramsnamy to have slurred speech, glassy bloodshot eyes and an odor of alcohol on his breath. Ramsnamy was placed under arrest at the scene without further incident. The 15-year-old passenger was release to his parents at the hospital.

Ramsnamy was charged with second degree vehicular assault, aggravated driving while intoxicated -- Leandra’s Law, endangering the welfare of a child and driving while intoxicated. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
