Man Stole Millions From Pediatric Business He Worked For: Police
Police say the scheme went on for more than a decade, and cost the company more than $3 million.

A Suffolk man was arrested by Nassau County police on Tuesday for decade-long embezzelment scheme that saw his employer lose more than $3 million, police say.
According to police, Peter Signh, 43, of Riviera Drive, Selden, worked for a pediatrics office in Woodmere from 2004 until Feb. 23, 2018. While employed there, police say he used multiple schemes over the years to embezzle millions of dollars.
Police say that Singh was the practice administrator, and had access to the business's bank accounts and payroll. Using his position, police say he set up a direct deposit from the business's account into his own, which stole approximately $83,500. Police say he gave himself pay raises that added up to about $1,126,800. He added his wife to the payroll, police say, and sent the money to himself, costing the company $1,726,700. He also added his step-daughter to the payroll, according to police, and cost the company another $136,053. Police say he also created a false company that was receiving payments, which cost his employer $29,600.

Police say the embezzlement was uncovered earlier this year when the business hired an accountant to analyze its records. After a police investigation, Singh turned himself in on May 15 at 7:20 a.m.
Singh is charged with second-degree grand larceny, first-degree scheme to defraud and eight counts of first-degree falsifying business records. He was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Tuesday.
