Join us for Flushing Town Hall's first-ever Culturethon! On Tuesday, June 16, from 10 AM to 8 PM, Flushing Town Hall is hosting an all-day virtual program highlights extravaganza—Culturethon!—to help FTH celebrate what a fabulous year it has been and to hit our end-of-year fundraising goals. 
The FTH team will host live as we stream highlights from past FTH performances for . . . free. Everyone is welcome to enjoy program highlights by tuning in for free between 10 AM and 8 PM by visiting <a href="https://www.culturestream.tv/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Culture Stream. </a>
In-Person Viewing Party 
All current and new <a href="https://www.flushingtownhall.org/circle-of-friends" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">FTH Circle of Friends</a> members are invited to our in-person Culturethon! Viewing Party from 6 to 8 PM. Set in the FTH gallery, we will stream the final program highlights over light refreshments. If you want to join us but aren’t yet a member, you can become a member today for as little as $50! For nonprofits like FTH, our fiscal year closes June 30, which means June 16 is the perfect moment to come together and help us start our next chapter strong. Join us for a special edition of our Monthly Jazz Jam as we celebrate the legacy of Bessie Smith. Our Jazz Jams are open to professional jazz musicians, graduate students studying jazz, music educators and serious hobbyists, our Monthly Jazz Jams invites musicians to perform at Flushing Town Hall. All are welcome, regardless of instrument (vocalists, too!). Our Steinway baby grand and drum kit are available at each Jam.&nbsp;FTH's Jazz Jam house band leader, Carol Sudhalter, plays flute, baritone and tenor sax and has been running our Monthly Jazz Jams since 2016. She is joined by Joe Vincent Tranchina (piano), Eric Lemon (bass) and Scott Neumann (drums). Each house band member brings over 40 years of Jazz experience to the jam!&nbsp;

Monthly Jazz Jam - June 2026 - Honoring Bessie Smith

Queens World Film Festival and FTH&nbsp;proudly present Prideful Poetry, an intimate, high-energy evening centering LGBTQ+ voices through the power of poetry and spoken word. This curated event invites poets and community members to gather, connect, and share their work with an enthusiastic audience in the FTH gallery. Hosted by Avant Garbage, Prideful Poetry will feature Pelayo AF, Cerulean Chen Long, KayTheePoet (Kayla Dudley), Hoshiko Hsu, Stevie Latham, Joseph O. Legaspi, David Nazario, and Kir O'Hanlon. The lineup is curated by Queens World Film Festival Founding Executive Director Katha Cato who, alongside FTH, welcomes audiences to a special experience where every poem is an offering and every listener is part of the exchange.
Doors open at 6:30 PM with music to set the tone for the evening. Performances begin promptly at 7 PM, offering a dynamic hour of poetry and spoken word. At 8:15 PM, the program transitions into refreshments and mingling, creating space for connection, conversation, and community.

Be part of the audience to enjoy scenes from Shakespeare's famous plays and perhaps participate in the Shakespeare Insult Contest to "Laugh oneself into stitches" (Twelfth Night). Nothing says spring better than our popular Classic Design Luncheon and Lecture! We’re honored to feature Genevieve Wheeler-Brown, the author of&nbsp;<a href="https://beyondblueandwhite.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">“Beyond Blue and White.”</a>
Wheeler-Brown’s book explores the history of Delftware ceramics, focusing on the often-overlooked roles of women as makers, patrons, and collectors, from 17th-century factory owners like&nbsp;Barbara Rotteveel&nbsp;to Gilded Age collectors like&nbsp;Mrs. J. Pierpont Morgan. A must for devotees of decorative arts and the history of material culture. 
Location: The award-winning Jay Estate Gardens designed by Nelson Byrd Woltz. Co-Chairs, Tracy Edwards, Liz Garrett, Emmy Lambert, Lindsay Bello Martin and Suzanne Clary.
Guests will enjoy botanical cocktails and a tour of the blue and white blooms of our gardens at 11:30am followed by lunch and lecture at 12 Noon. Booksigning at 1:30pm. Catering provided by Scarborough Fair Catering.
Spring garden attire and hats encouraged!

GENEVIEVE WHEELER BROWN
Founding Genevieve Wheeler Decorative Art Advisory in 2003, Genevieve comes to the advisory business with more than 12 years of experience in the auction world, strong generalist knowledge and a wide range of contacts in American, European and Asian decorative and fine arts.
Genevieve began her career with Christie’s in 1992 with the European Decorative Arts Department after working as an intern at The Phillips Collection, Washington D.C. in 1990. She was then asked to run Overseas Consignments at Christie’s Park Avenue, a department that handled inquiries for European based auctions including Indian and Southeast Asian art, Islamic Art, Miniatures, Textiles and Cameras. In 1995 Genevieve became the New York contact for sales of Fabergé and Russian Silver at Christie’s Park Avenue and most recently was as a specialist in Fine Musical Instruments at Christie’s Rockefeller Center from 1998 to 2003.
While at Christie’s, she was involved with important sales such as ‘The Pine Cone Egg’ by Carl Fabergé and ‘The Taft’ Stradivari which fetched the auction record for an instrument sold in the United States. She has also been an appraiser on the PBS production ‘The Antiques Roadshow’.
A supporter of several fine and decorative art related institutions, Genevieve has served on the Board of the National Society of Colonial Dames in the State of New York, served as a member of the Young Fellows Steering Committee of the Frick Collection from 1995 to 2005 and co-Chaired the Winter Antiques Show Young Collector’s Night, New York in 2004, 2005, and 2006.
Genevieve currently advises several organizations including <a href="https://www.dumbartonhouse.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Dumbarton House</a>, a Federal period house museum in Georgetown, as a board member as well as for <a href="https://www.thewintershow.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">The Winter Show</a> as a vice-chair of Opening Night and as co-founder of The Winter Show Luncheon.About The Jay Heritage Center
The nonprofit Jay Heritage Center (JHC) is dedicated to preserving, protecting, and revitalizing a place that has meaning for all Americans: The Jay Estate. Classic Design Luncheon & Lecture: Beyond Blue and White with Genevieve Wheeler-Brown

On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, learned they were free. Juneteenth, as it's now known, is celebrated annually to honor the end of legal enslavement in the United States and a tradition of gathering, remembering, and telling the truth and stories about how we arrived in this moment.
Flushing Town Hall marks the holiday with an evening of storytelling and song led by April Armstrong,&nbsp;actress, singer, and National Storytelling Network award winner whose work has long centered the histories and voices of the African diaspora. Armstrong draws on folk traditions, spirituals, and the oral storytelling forms that have carried Black history across generations. She will be joined by a trio of musicians: Mario E. Sprouse (piano/keyboard), Ayodele Maakheru (guitar and banjo), and Napoleon Revels-Bey (drums).
