Man, 57, Dies After Being Struck By Van On Flushing Avenue

The pedestrian died from complications from his crash injuries, authorities said. He was struck by a van on Flushing Avenue in Ridgewood.

RIDGEWOOD, QUEENS - A 57-year-old Flushing man died after he was struck by a van on Flushing Avenue. The man, Ping Chung, died from complications from his injuries, according to the medical examiner's office.

Chung was crossing the avenue on Tuesday, Feb. 19, when a 31-year-old man driving a 2013 Ford Van struck the pedestrian. The crash happened around 8:00 a.m. in front of 1937 Flushing Ave. in Ridgewood, police said.

Chung was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead. On Wednesday, the medical examiner determined the cause of death was complications from the injuries.
