New Art Exhibition Will Takeover Vacant Midtown Building: Learn More

NEW YORK CITY — A vacant Duane Reade storefront and a stripped-out office floor in Midtown Manhattan will be transformed into a temporary contemporary art exhibition this month.

The exhibition will bring together works by more than 50 established and emerging artists.

260 Madison opens September 24 at AmTrustRE’s 260 Madison office tower at Madison Avenue and 39th Street.

The show will occupy both the former street-level retail space and the building’s entire 23,000-square-foot, 14th-floor office space.

Artists Dayana Matasheva, Edson Niebla Rodríguez and Shaina Tabak are co-curating the exhibition, which will feature sculpture, new media and video. The building itself—and traces of its previous uses—will serve as a backdrop for works examining themes such as control, surveillance, artificial intelligence and the systems that influence how people work, move and live.

The lineup includes established names such as Matt Mullican, Jon Kessler, Simon Denny, Josh Kline, Eva and Franco Mattes, Rachel Rossin, Liz Magic Laser, Leigh Ledare, David Humphrey and Michelle Segre, alongside a broad group of next-generation artists.

260 Madison will run through November 22, 2026. The exhibition is free and open to the public, with no tickets required.
