Book-and-Author Shabbat Service

The Reform Temple of Forest Hills will feature a BOOK-AND-AUTHOR Shabbat service on Friday, March 18 at 8:00 p.m.  Rabbi Mayer Perelmuter, Cantor Cary Schwartz.

Guest speaker Rabbi Joshua O. Haberman will speak on Five Ways To A Happier Life with Help From The Psalms folllowed by an oneg Shabbat reception and book-signing upon the 2nd edition publication of his book HEALING PSALMS. Rabbi Haberman will demonstrate how Psalms may help readers cope with everyday life, with feelings ranging from love to hate, from happiness to sadness and depression.

Rabbi Haberman, a native of Austria, began studies at the Jewish Theological Seminary and the University of Vienna and fled to the USA during the Nazi occupation Austria. He completed his studies at the University of Cincinnati and the Hebrew Union College, where he was ordained as Rabbi and earned a doctorate in modern religious philosophy. He has preached at the White House and co-officiated with Billy Graham at the televised 9/11 Memorial Service at the National Cathedral in Washington.

He is the Rabbi Emeritus of the Washington Hebrew Congregation and the founding chairman of the Foundation for Jewish Studies, Washington's largest network of life-long Jewish learning programs.
