Flag Day is Friday June 14 As the across the street neighbor of the Queens County Court House in Kew Gardens I have become more and more frustrated in the way our Flag is raised and lowered . Perhaps the workers are not American born educated since grade school in how this honorable task is to be preformed. First it is not just a task or part of the job it is truly a honor to display our colors so let's do it right. The American flag is ALWAYS raised FIRST and lowered LAST. This is NOT what I have observed and in fact on many Friday nights it is not lowered at all leaving it out day and night over the weekend. When lowered our Flag should NOT be bundled up like used bed sheets ....IT IS OUR FLAG NOT A RAG!!! Perhaps building management should GOOGLE for more how to information and pass it along to those charged with this daily honor.LET'S do it right!!!
