Boston University graduate and Forest Hills native, Brad Berk, competed and won an award at Microsoft’s 11th annual Imagine Cup competition. Joined by classmates Nick Lippis, Patrick Maruska and Robins Patel, Team Pitch won the SkyDrive Boost Award for their innovative software system.
With thousands of the brightest young minds across the country developing business-ready apps, games, and technology services, Berk’s team won by developing an easy and efficient way to access and share calendar meetings and documents. Working with their Boston University professor and the Microsoft team at the Cambridge office, the team created an account-less yet secure system for creating meetings, in which documents of any file type can be quickly and easily shared with all meeting members. They created this solution using Windows 8 and a Windows Azure backend.
Additionally, Berk and his teammates are using the $1,000 they won, along with the experience they gained from pitching VCs during the Imagine Cup competition, to turn their idea into a start-up company. To learn more about Microsoft Imagine Cup, please visit www.imaginecup.com
