Forest Hills Schools Struggle On Progress Reports
Elementary Schools in the neighborhood score two C's on educational evaluations.
Typically, when a bad report card comes home, students are the ones getting a talking to. But after the most recent round of progress reports, school administrators in Forest Hills are the ones in hot water.
The most recent rounds of school progress reports were released late last month, and the news for Forest Hills public schools is not good.
Two Forest Hills elementary schools received C grades, Russell Sage Junior High School received a B and two elementary schools received A’s.

The most precipitous drop in the neighborhood was the P.S. 220, the Edward Mandel School, — and the highest grade in the neighborhood — to a C this year, with the second lowest overall score.
0 received an abysmal 3.1 out of a possible 25 points in student performance, earning a D grade in that category.

, also received a C grade, a drop from last year’s B grade, which was itself a drop from an A grade the year before. The school’s total score of 28.7 out of 100 represented the worst score for any public elementary school in the neighborhood. During the 2008-09 school evaluation, P.S. 101 received a score of 84.8 out of 100.
Not every school in the area was hit hard. received an A, and scored the highest of any school in the neighborhood for the second year in a row.
also received an A, up from a B last year, and also saw it’s score go up, from a C in 2009-10 to a B this year.
