I’m not sure where chocolate falls in that spectrum, but if you want to win someone’s heart with candy, making the most popular picks can’t hurt.

We teamed up with — on Metropolitan Avenue to bring you the most popular chocolate choices in the area so far this year to help you make a good decision when buying for your sweetheart. Just make sure you don’t wolf down half the box before you get it home.

Popular chocolate choices:

• Heart-shaped Boxes  — Unlike the Nirvana song, these are not in any way depressing, unless you’re allergic to the contents. Very popular, and Aigner says they’ve still got some in stock. Lucky you!
• Heart Hat Boxes — Similar to their flatter cousins, but more personal. These are boxes you get to fill up with chocolate of your choosing.
• Truffles — These have proven popular at Aigner, and they’ve still got boxes in stock, if you’re looking to make a flavorful impression.
• Chocolate Lollipops — Yes, they really did think of everything. These come in heart, flower and cupid shapes, for all your shadow-puppeteering needs. Aigner says they’ve got plenty.
