VIDEO: NYPD Horse Bucks Officer To The Ground In Queens

An NYPD Officer was thrown off his horse while crossing a busy street in Forest Hills, Queens.

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS – A spooked police horse bucked a cop off its back as he rode it through Forest Hills, a video posted online shows.

The clip, posted on Twitter by NYC Scanner, shows the animal riding in a group of five NYPD horses on Queens Boulevard at 78 Avenue. The video was posted May 7.

It suddenly rears, throwing the officer to the ground where he lands hard on his back.

The officer however doesn't appear to sustain any injuries in the fall. The video shows him jumping to his feet and immediately grabbing the horse's bridle and leading it to safety.

Membership in the NYPD Mounted Unit is no easy feat. The officers must first take a physical fitness test, which includes a run and intense calisthenics. Those who make it through the physical test move on to an intensive 12-week training program, according to an article by the New York Post.
