Woman Found Dead After Attending Queens Concert: Report, Cops

Sindy Maharaj​, 28, was found dead in a Ridgewood apartment the day after attending the Homecoming Week show in Forest Hills, reports show.

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — A young woman from Staten Island was found dead inside a Queens apartment last Saturday — the day after she attended a blowout concert in Forest Hills, according to police and reports.

On Saturday Aug. 21 around 1:30 p.m. police found Sindy Maharaj, 28, dead in a Ridgewood apartment at 1722 Palmetto Street, NYPD records show.

The night before, Mahraj — a Staten Island resident — went to the city's reopening-themed concert at Forest Hills Stadium, where she met a man and went back with him to his apartment, a source told the Staten Island Advance.

The source told the news site that the man was unable to wake Mahraj the following day. They both drank alcohol the night before, the source said.

Police made no mention of alcohol or drug paraphernalia in their initial report, and said that Mahraj had no obvious signs of trauma when she was found in the Ridgewood apartment.

As of Saturday, the medical examiner was still determining Mahraj's cause of death, and the investigation remained ongoing.
