Although the two don't seem to be connected, the attack comes only a week or so after another assault on a man just a few blocks away.

In that attack, a 65-year-old was sent down a flight of stairs at the Clinton/Washington avenues station just before 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1.

Two attackers came up behind the man as he was walking down the staircase to the mezzanine at the A/C subway station, police said. One of two suspects punched the 65-year-old in the back of the head, causing him to tumble down the staircase and land on the station floor unconscious.

Once the man landed on the floor, the man who punched him and another man he was with, took the 65-year-old's backpack. The backpack had his wallet, headphones, watch, cell phone and Bluetooth speakers inside, police said.

After the two thieves ran away from the station, the 65-year-old was sent to the hospital. He had a fractured jaw, two broken ribs and a cut on the back of his head from the attack. Police said Monday he was at NY Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in serious but stable, condition.
