Snow Report! School Cancelled, Buses Suspended and More

With more than a foot of snow on the ground, there are a slew of citywide service changes today. Take a look at our round-up of service advisories and regulation changes for the day.

  • Public schools are closed today.
  • All non-emergency city offices will also be closed today.
  • Bus service has been suspended throughout the city because of road and weather conditions, but some lines have been restored in Queens.
  • Most subways are running with delays. The MTA's website has been crashing, but seems to be working now. As an alternative, residents can check Brad Lander's blog for service updates. Q service has resumed. Expect suspensions in many above-ground areas.
  • Alternate side parking is suspended, as are parking meters.
  • Garbage and recycling collection is canceled.
  • Access-a-Ride is canceled except for trips of medical necessity.
  • The LIRR is running on a weekend schedule. Metro-North's Harlem and Hudson Lines are operating on a Saturday schedule. The New Haven Line remains suspended until further notice.

The city recommends using public transportation and avoiding roads after the storm.
