Armed Suspect Shot By Police in Fort Greene

A 20-year-old man was injured in the shooting Friday.

An armed suspect was shot by an NYPD officer in the area of Park Avenue and Cumberland Walk in Fort Greene on Friday, police said.

According to police, uniformed officers on patrol heard shots fired inside the Walt Whitman Houses around 8 p.m. Friday. When officers exited their vehicle to investigate, they saw the armed suspect running on Cumberland Walk and jump over a fence.

An officer discharged his weapon as he approached the 20-year-old male suspect, striking him in his left shoulder. The suspect was transported to Bellevue Hospital, where he remains in police custody and is listed in stable condition.

The officers were transported to Methodist Hospital for treatment and observation. A Kel Tec .9mm semi-automatic gun was recovered at the scene.

Charges in the case are pending.
