Barclays Center Hosts Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony Friday

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at the Barclays Center will honor New York's Tupac Shakur and Joan Baez, among others.

FORT GREENE, BROOKLYN — Barclays Center will celebrate the music of Tupac Shakur, Joan Baez, Electric Light Orchestra, Pearl Jam and Yes on Friday with a ceremony to celebrate the artists’ induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the venue has announced.

The 32nd Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is scheduled to begin at the Downtown Brooklyn arena at 7 p.m. Tickets have been sold out but the Cleveland Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will live-tweet the event and HBO will air a broadcast on April 29, according to event organizers.

Snoop Dogg will induct his late friend Tupac, George Harrison’s son Dhani will induct Electric Light Orchestra, Pat Monahan will induct Journey, and Pharrell Williams will present Nile Rodgers with an Award for Musical Excellence.

Musician Neil Young was originally scheduled to introduce Pearl Jam but cancelled — because of an illness — and has been replaced by former Late Show host David Letterman, the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame announced on Twitter.

The program will also feature a special memorial tribute to Prince, almost one year after his death, performed by Lenny Kravitz, according to organizers.

Alicia Keys, Mary Chapin Carpenter and the Indigo Girls are also scheduled to perform are also on the Barclays Center program.

Preparations for the celebrations — announced in December — were well underway Thursday afternoon.
