UPDATED: Deadly Shooting in Lafayette Gardens
Onlookers insisted the shooting was drug-related, though that could not be confirmed.
A 26-year-old man was fatally shot in the Lafayette Gardens housing projects on Saturday.
The NYPD said that Michael Bowen was found on the ground at around 1:30 p.m. with two gunshots in the leg and torso. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Two hours later the police had blocked off Lafayette Avenue between Classon and Franklin avenues to traffic. Detectives milled about the entrance to 415 Lafayette Ave. where Bowen lived, according to cops.
