This deeply unsettling sophomore feature by Zobel (The Great World of Sound), a dark, transfixing psychodrama inspired by true events, had its premiere at Sundance, where it generated an unusually visceral, even combative, audience reaction. The film follows a fast-food employee (Dreama Walker) who is accused of theft and repeatedly subjected to demoralizing acts by her overworked supervisor (Ann Dowd), all at the behest of an authoritarian phone caller. A Magnolia Pictures release.
