Fire Ravages 6-Story Fort Greene Home: FDNY

A two-alarm fire erupted in a six-story building on Myrtle Avenue Tuesday afternoon, said FDNY.

FORT GREENE, BROOKLYN — A two-alarm fire erupted in a six-story apartment building on Myrtle Avenue Tuesday afternoon, said an FDNY spokesman.

The flames began to spread on the top story of 354 Myrtle Ave. near Adelphi Street around 2:45 p.m., according to FDNY.

Witness Ali Mohamad, an employee at Myrtle Drug Care across the street, saw firemen pull an older man from one of the top stories of the building, he told Patch on the telephone.

"He was trapped in the fire, they rescued him." Ali said of the firemen, "They are definitely brave."

The fire was extinguished by 3:50 p.m. and two firefighters were treated for minor injuries on site, according to the FDNY.
