Fort Greene Cell Phone Sale Meet-Up Turns Into Gunpoint Robbery

A man hoping to sell his cell phone was robbed of $2,000 by three men with a gun when he got to the Atlantic Commons meet-up spot.

FORT GREENE, BROOKLYN — A cell phone sale went wrong left a man without his cell phone, car keys and about $2,000 in Fort Greene, police said.

A 32-year-old man had arranged a meet up last month to sell his cell phone and went to meet the buyer around 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 20 near Cumberland Street and Atlantic Commons, police said.

But when he got there, the man was approached by three unknown men. One of the suspects took out a gun and demanded that the 32-year-old hand over his property.

The three suspects ultimately took the victim's car keys, cell phone and cash, which estimated a total value of $2,000. They ran away toward Hanson Place after the robbery, police said.

No injuries were reported from the incident.

The three individuals are described as being in their late teens or early 20's and were all last seen wearing black and gray clothing.
