Future Of Commodore Barry Park Open For Discussion Wednesday
NYC Parks and lawmakers will hold a "visioning session" for the Fort Greene park on Wednesday night.

FORT GREENE, BROOKLYN -- City officials will ask for the public's help Wednesday to decide the future of Commodore Barry Park, the borough's oldest park and Fort Greene's second biggest green-space.
The NYC Parks Department and Councilmember Laurie Cumbo (D-35) will host a visioning session for the park at 6:30 p.m. in the Ingersoll Cornerstone Community Center's gymnasium. Members of the public are welcome to offer and discuss ideas for the space, which has been recommended for improvements the past few years but has seen little come to fruition.
Commodore Barry Park was part of a long list of public spaces proposed for dramatic renovations by The Brooklyn Strand more than two years ago. But since then, the only completed improvement has been a $54,000 update to the park's outdoor pool.
