FORT GREENE, BROOKLYN — A hit-and-run driver slammed into a cyclist early Thursday morning then sped away, officials said. Joseph Garcia, 27, was driving his 2017 Subaru down Washington Avenue around 12:10 a.m. when he struck a person riding a bicycle near Willoughby Avenue, police said. <a href="https://patch.com/new-york/fortgreene/subscribe" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Keep up with news from your neighborhood by signing up for the Fort Greene Patch free daily newsletter.</a> Garcia sped away and abandoned his vehicle on Waverly Avenue and the cyclist was rushed to Methodist Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, said police and the FDNY.
