'I Will Kill Every White,' Says BK Man Charged With Hate Crime

Kevin Raphael allegedly told a pregnant woman and her husband, "I will kill every white (expletive) around here," prosecutors said.

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK -- The man who roamed Brooklyn threatening a pregnant woman and three others with the words, “I will kill every white (expletive) around here," has been charged with a hate crime, prosecutors said.

Kevin Raphael, 39, was arraigned Wednesday on charges stemming from a three-day spree of threatening and attacking people in Fort Greene, Flatbush and Crown Heights earlier this summer, according to the Brooklyn District Attorney's office.

Raphael first approached a 30-year-old man and his pregnant wife on the corner of Empire Boulevard and Rogers Avenue in Crown Heights on July 29 at about 1 p.m., prosecutors said.

"What are you looking at?" Raphael allegedly asked, reaching for his waistband. "I kill white (expletive) like you."

The following morning, Raphael punched a 29-year-old law student on the B25 bus near Fulton and Bond streets in Fort Greene, told the young man, "“I hate all you white (expletive)," then got off at the next stop, said prosecutors.

Finally, Raphael repeatedly hit a 59-year-old doctor and reiterated similar sentiments on a B41 Bus near Flatbush Avenue and Kings Highway on July 31 at about 6:30 p.m., prosecutors said.

The doctor suffered bruising and a concussion as a result of Raphael's attack, prosecutors said.

Raphael will face 13 charges that include assault as a hate crime, menacing as a hate crime and aggravated harassment in Brooklyn Criminal Court, prosecutors said.

The East New York man was held on a $50,000 cash bail and ordered to return to court on Oct. 24, according to prosecutors.

Raphael's attorney Jonathan Fink did not immediately respond to Patch's request for comment.
