Man Snatches $7,000 Necklace On Brooklyn D Train: Cops

A man ran off with another man's $7,000 gold chain near the Atlantic Avenue/Barclays Center station.

FORT GREENE, BROOKLYN — Police are looking for a man who snatched a $7,000 necklace on a Brooklyn D train this week.

A 51-year-old man was riding southbound on a D train into the Atlantic Avenue/Barclays Center station when the other man took a gold chain from around the 51-year-old's neck. The man tried to chase the thief, but lost sight of him as they exited the station at Pacific Street and Fourth Avenue, police said.

The chain the man grabbed, which is gold and has a cross symbol, is valued at around $7,000.

Police described the man who took it as being approximately 50 years old, standing 6'0", weighing about 180 lbs. and said he was last seen wearing glasses, a red shirt, blue jeans, and a black pack.

Surveillance video caught the man leaving the station right after the incident.
