Missing Jazz Musician's Mother Fears She Jumped From The George Washington Bridge

Lael Feldman, a young jazz singer from Brooklyn who performed at the Blue Note, has been missing since Thursday.

FORT GREENE, BROOKLYN — A young jazz musician is missing and her mother fears she jumped off the George Washington Bridge.

Lael Feldman, 24, of Clinton Hill, disappeared from her home near Clinton and Lafayette avenues around 2:20 a.m. Thursday morning, police said.

Feldman, a singer/songwriter who performs under the name Lael Summer, has a long history of depression, said her mother and police sources.

“She has a history of suicide attempts,” Marla Mace, Feldman’s mother, told Patch in an email, adding the young woman might have jumped from the George Washington Bridge.

Mace declined to speak because, as she wrote, “I’m with family now.”

Feldman released her debut album — entitled “Burden To Bear" — in 2014, the same year she performed at the Blue Note Club, according to her website bio.

Feldman wrote "Burden To Bear" to explore her experiences of loneliness growing up in New York City, she said in an interview with the online music magazine, Live For Live Music.

“There is nothing quite like the feeling of being unbelievably lost and alone while surrounded by millions of people," Summer said in the 2014 interview. "You grow up fast."

Feldman — who has brown eyes, black hair, stands five-foot-four and has a thin build — was last seen wearing black leggings, flip flops and a dark tank top, police said.

She has tattoos of wings on her legs and the word “breathe” on her left wrist, police said.

Anyone with information about Feldman’s location is asked to contact police.
