Barclays Center Shooting Leaves One Hurt, Manhunt Underway: NYPD
A man was shot near the Barclays Center on Wednesday afternoon.

FORT GREENE, BROOKLYN — A 50-year-old man was shot in the ankle near the Barclays Center in broad daylight on Wednesday, officials said.
Emergency responders rushed to the Barclays Center at 620 Atlantic Ave. around 2:10 p.m. to investigate reports that a gun had been fired, said the FDNY.
The man was sent to Methodist Hospital in stable condition, according to police and NYPD spokesman J. Peter Donald.

Authorities are still searching for the shooter, who is described as a skinny black male last ween wearing a blue baseball hat, a black shirt, and dark colored pants with a white stripe down the side.

Mayor Bill de Blasio's office responded to the shooting — which occurred in the wake of a mass shooting in a San Francisco UPS facility and the shooting of House Majority Whip Steve Scalise and four others in Virginia — by urging New Yorkers not to panic.
"The mayor has been briefed on the shooting on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn," the mayor's office wrote on Twitter. "The NYPD is on the scene and there is no reason for alarm."
