• New Visions Elementary school remembers Freeport's 9/11 heroes (liherald.com) — New Visions Elementary students in Freeport honored local 9/11 heroes alongside village officials and Freeport firefighters, hearing firsthand stories of bravery and sacrifice from former fire chiefs. The ceremony highlighted eight Freeport firefighters lost to the attacks or related illnesses, encouraged students to focus on courage and service, and invited families to continue commemorations at the village's evening ceremony on South Bayview Avenue.
• Freeport school trustee resigns amid tensions with board president (liherald.com) — Freeport's Board of Education is undergoing major change after longtime trustee and former president Sunday Coward resigned amid months of tension with current board president Michael Pomerico. With only one pre-election trustee remaining, the board is now working to appoint an interim member who shares a strong commitment to students, while residents remain divided over whether unity or open disagreement best serves Freeport schools.
• Port Washington boys soccer's Jason Vorfi scores twice in win over Freeport (newsday.com) — Freeport High's boys soccer team fell 5–1 at home to Port Washington after a delayed kickoff, with the Red Devils missing standout senior Kevin Leon due to a knee injury. Despite the loss, coach Craig Klasson stressed that Freeport still has many games ahead and that the season will be defined by how the team finishes, not its slow start.
