Drug Arrest Gets Heroin, Guns Off Nassau Streets: Police

Police say the investigation of multiple overdoses led to the alleged dealer's arrest.

A joint investigation by Nassau County and Freeport police led to the arrest of an alleged Freeport drug dealer, and the confiscation of drugs, cash and weapons.

According to police, the Long Island Heroin Task Force, working with the Freeport Police Department, was investigating a string of overdoses that occurred in the Freeport/Baldwin area over the last several weeks. The investigation led police to arrest Robert Williams, 56, of Freeport.

Williams was in possession of 65 grams of heroin as well as Methadone at the time of his arrest, police say.

Williams gave officers permission to search his home, and police say they found more heroin, cash, two loaded .380 caliber handguns, a loaded 12-gauge shotgun, ammunition, packing materials, scales and a money counting machine.

Roberts is charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday in First District Court in Hempstead.
