Freeport Residents Pass School Budget
Freeport residents headed to the polls Tuesday to vote on a school budget and elect board members.

Voters in the Freeport School District went to the polls Tuesday and approved the school budget.
The $175 million budget is a $4.9 million increase over the current year's spending plan of $170.1 million. Voters approved the budget 812 to 180. Due to a significant increase in state aid, the tax levy to finance the budget is actually decreasing very slightly from $87.1 million to $87 million.
Voters also cast their ballot for the establishment of a capital reserve fund that will help fund improvements throughout the district. That also passed, 783 to 164.
