Freeport Soup Kitchen Gets Funds To Keep Operation Intact
Soup to Nuts serves take-out meals to hundreds of people each week.

FREEPORT, NY — Soup to Nuts, the Freeport-based soup kitchen has a long association with Long Island Cares. The charity organizations have been teaming up to help Long Islanders for more than three decades.
Long Island Cares recently delivered a check to Soup to Nuts for $4,140. The grant is to supply paper towels.
"Long Island Cares gives us some peace of mind. In these rapidly changing times when more things seem less dependable, the grant for disposables has provided us with a safety net," Marian Hart, Soup to Nuts treasurer, said.

The Freeport soup kitchen, which opened in 1987, serves hot lunches "to go" on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. More than 1,000 people receive meals each month.
