Man Charged in Freeport Robbery: Police
The man was identified by the teen at the police station while he was reporting the crime, police say.

FREEPORT, NY - A Freeport man was arrested in connection to the robbery of a teen who was hit with a golf club and robbed by a group of men in Freeport on Friday afternoon, according to Nassau Police.
The 14-year-old boy was walking with a friend on Pine Street and Washington Avenue at about 2:28 p.m., when he was chased by a group of unknown men, police said.
One of the men armed with a golf club hit the teen numerous times, knocking him to the ground, police said.

The robbers then took the teen's cell phone and wallet containing personal papers and cash before running away, police said.
The teen walked home and later with his parents went to the Freeport Police Headquarters to report the crime.

While at the station, the teen saw one of the men involved in the robbery, identified as 22-year-old Jonaiki Martinez-Estrella, inside the police building, police said.
He was at the police station to report an unrelated incident.
The teen alerted authorities and Martinez-Estrella was placed under arrest at 5:48 p.m. without incident, police said.
This investigation is ongoing.
Martinez-Estrella is being charged with first degree robbery, police said.
