Nassau Man Threatened To Kill Officers: Police
Police say the man, a former minor league player for the Yankees, posted threatening messages to his Instagram account.

A Freeport man was arrested on Monday morning after police say he post threatening messages against police officers on social media.
According to police, Leonel Vinas, 26, of South Ocean Avenue, posted threats to police officers to his Instagram account. According to Newsday, a police spokesman said that Vinas posted that "any cop get in way gonna get shot."
After an investigation, Vinas was located and arrested at John F. Kennedy Airport in Queens without incident.

Vinas was a former minor-league player for the Yankees. He was signed to a minor league contract with the team in December, 2010. According to Minor League Baseball statistics, he played for the Gulf Coast League Yankees for the 2011 season. Many news outlets, including Patch, covered the signing at the time and spoke about how the Yankees were pinning hopes on him becoming a relief pitcher. It's unclear what happened to Vinas's baseball career.
Today, he runs a baseball academy for kids, among other jobs.

Vinas is charged with making a terroristic threat. He is scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Tuesday.
