17-Year-Old Fugitive From Pennsylvania Arrested In Garden City

An officer saw a car traveling south on Clinton Road at 75 MPH on Dec. 5. The office tried to pull the car over, but the driver refused to stop and continued to drive in an unsafe manner on multiple streets in Garden City and Hempstead, breaking many laws. The car finally came to a stop on Stowe Place in Hempstead where the driver, a 36-year-old man from Westbury, got out of the car and fled on foot. Officers were able to arrest the man. He was charged with reckless endangerment, 10 driver license suspensions, revoked license, reckless driving, excessive speed, resisting arrest, unlawful fleeing a police officer and numerous other traffic violations. It was also determined that the man is currently on federal probation for firearm possession and drug related charges.
Officers responded to pedestrian crossing signal malfunctions at Rockaway Avenue and Stewart Avenue on Dec. 5.
Garden City detectives investigated a two-vehicle crash that occurred on Nov. 18 on Old Country Road where one car left the scene and the driver of the remaining car suffered a back injury. As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old man from Middletown, New York was arrested on Dec. 7 for leaving the scene of a personal injury accident.

A package delivered by a courier service was reported stolen from the front porch of a Clinch Avenue residence on Dec. 7.
Money was reported stolen from a vehicle parked on the campus of Adelphi University on Dec. 8.

Cars parked on Meadow Street and 5th Street were entered on Dec. 8, but nothing was stolen.
A package delivered by a courier service was reported stolen from the front porch of a Hampton Road residence on Dec. 8.
A lamppost on the front lawn of a Meadow Street residence was found damaged on Dec. 9.
Vehicles were entered on Whitehall Boulevard, Rockaway Avenue and Wellington Road on Dec. 9 with no loss reported.
A front window to a Meadow Street home was found damaged, possibly by a BB gun pellet, on Dec. 9.
At approximately 3 a.m. on Dec. 10, a police officer on patrol saw two suspicious people walking on Boylston Street, nearPine Street. As the officer approached them, they fled. It was later determined loose change was stolen from a vehicle parked on Willow Street and a vehicle parked on 3rd Street.
Upon investigation on Meadow Street on Dec. 10, officers charged a 31-year-old man from Freeport for driving with three license suspensions, switched license plates, unregistered auto and uninsured operation.
As a result of a suspicious person investigation at the Nassau Boulevard train station on Dec. 11, Officers arrested a 17-year-old man from Pennsylvania as a fugitive from justice. The subjected was wanted on felony assault charges in Pennsylvania.
A vehicle deemed to be a Garden City Court Scofflaw, due to unpaid tickets, was impounded in Parking Field 11 on Dec. 11.
A vehicle driving south on Nassau Boulevard struck the train overpass on Dec. 11. The driver, a 54-year-old man from Mount Vernon, was charged with disregarding bridge clearance signs. No one was injured.
