GARDEN CITY, NY — The Incorporated Village of Garden City released its crime report for the week ending Tuesday, April 14.

The items reported took place between April 15 and April 21 and are as follows:

April 21:

  • GCPD responded to three auto crashes.

  • Officers responded to 7th St. for a person possibly trying to enter cars. No subject was located.
  • GCPD responded to a home for a possible burglary. The homeowner stated that the house is vacant and in the process of being sold. No forced entry was observed, and detectives will investigate.

April 19:

  • A report was filed regarding a larceny by extortion.

April 18:

  • Officers controlled traffic and policed the Little League Opening Day Parade without any incidents.
  • GCPD responded to assist with an ongoing dispute between two neighbors.
  • GCPD located a missing teenager from New Jersey and reunited them with their family.
  • Officers responded to an explosion in the sump behind the Garden City High School. An arson investigation is being conducted.
  • GCPD responded to St Paul's to investigate a possible stolen cell phone from a bag during a basketball game.

April 17:

  • GCPD and GCFD responded to a report of a car fire at Adelphi University.
  • Officers responded to Edgemere Rd. for a report of 'youths' on motorbikes being reckless. They were no longer in the area upon arrival.

April 16:

  • GCPD assisted a motorist with a flat tire on Stewart Ave.

April 15:

  • Officers responded to Manor Rd. due to a small brush fire that reignited from Tuesday's transformer explosion.
  • GCPD directed traffic at several locations due to a brief power outage, which disabled multiple traffic lights.
  • Officers responded to the vicinity of Homestead School for a report of a car rear window that had shattered.
