2 Arrested In Slew Of Luxury Car Thefts Around Nassau County

BREAKING: Police said twi men were arrested Wednesday after Audis, Infinitis, BMWs, Mercedes-Benzes, Cadillacs and Lexuses were stolen.

GARDEN CITY, NY — Police arrested two Queens men in connection with a slew of luxury vehicle thefts around Nassau County. From Aug. 26 to Sept. 25, police said high-end vehicles were stolen in Garden City Park, East Hills, Old Westbury, Syosset and Westbury.

Investigators determined three people were responsible for the car thefts, including Jorge Alvarez, 18, of Vandoren Street, and Matthew Garcia, 21, of 54th Avenue.

Alvarez was arrested Wednesday around 3:45 p.m. on Corona Avenue. About five hours later, Garcia was arrested on Union Turnpike. Both men face charges of burglary and grand larceny and are expected in court Friday in Hempstead.

Below is a timeline of the thefts, according to police.

  • Aug. 26-27: Between 9 p.m. and 6:50 a.m., a 2017 Audi model A4 was taken from Strattford Road in Garden City Park.
  • Sept. 20-21: Between 6:45 p.m. and 9:10 a.m., a Mercedes-Benz GS450 was stolen on Mimosa Drive in East Hills.
  • Sept. 20-21: Between 9 p.m. and 11:53 a.m., a 2016 Audi was stolen on Poplar Drive in East Hills.
  • Sept. 21: Around 3 a.m., a 2017 Mercedes-Benz and a Cadillac Escalade were stolen on Sycamore Drive in East Hills.
  • Sept. 22-23: Between 6 p.m. and 6:45 a.m. a 2018 Lexus RX350 was stolen from The Pines in Old Westbury.
  • Sept. 23: Around 3 a.m., a 2019 Infiniti QX60, 2019 BMW X3 and a 2019 Chevrolet Corvette were stolen from The Pines in Old Westbury.
  • Sept. 24-25: Between 8 p.m. and 1:30 p.m., a 2019 BMW 330 CI was stolen from Abby Lane in Syosset.
  • Sept. 25: Around 3 a.m., assorted merchandise was stolen from the garage of a home on Chestnut Lane in Woodbury.
