AAA Traffic Safety Poster & Video Contest Winners Honored

Winners Announced and Honored for their Artistic Talents

GARDEN CITY, NY – AAA Northeast has announced that 12 students from Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, Rockland, Nassau and Westchester have won the top prizes in its annual Traffic Safety Poster & Video Contest. New York had the Grand Prize winner overall from the five participating states.

Donna Galasso, Assistant Director, Traffic Safety, AAA Northeast, presented the students with plaques and monetary awards in a ceremony held in Mineola, New York on Thursday, June 6th.

AAA’s contest gives students the opportunity to demonstrate proper skills and behavior in regard to pedestrian, bike and school bus safety, seat belt and child restraint use and safe driving practices. They illustrated an assigned safety theme in poster format at the elementary level and in video or poster format at the high school level.

Students within the AAA Northeast, New York region submitted over 600 entries depicting traffic safety slogans. Each design was judged on originality, execution, visual relationship and effectiveness of communicating a traffic safety message.
